At 19, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s eldest daughter, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, has finally admitted what many fans long suspected: she is dropping her father’s last name for good. Just weeks after turning 18,

Shiloh officially filed to legally change her name to Shiloh Jolie, removing “Pitt” from her surname in a decision her lawyer says was sparked by “painful events” tied to her father’s alleged abuse history.

The name change was no secret—Shiloh had already removed “Pitt” from her Instagram profile months earlier—but now it’s official. Her lawyer clarified that she did not place an ad or seek media attention for the change, but the move has sent shockwaves through Hollywood since it confirms what many had been quietly watching: Shiloh is fully aligning herself with her mother rather than her father.

Sources close to the situation say Shiloh blames Brad Pitt for the legal battles that prevented her from testifying about her own custody wishes when she was younger. “She feels her father’s actions violated her rights,” a source said. The move comes amid ongoing estrangement between Pitt and several of his children; Zahara also dropped “Pitt” from her name in college and now goes by Zahara Marley Jolie, while Maddox recently filed to remove “Pitt” legally as well.

Brad Pitt is reportedly “aware and upset” by Shiloh’s decision but remains hopeful he can eventually reconcile with her. For now, Shiloh has made her choice clear: she’s no longer carrying the name of the man many believe hurt her family.
