ROYAL TITLES REVOKED?” — New Claims Spark Fresh Palace Debate // Harry and Meghan stepped back as working members of the Royal Family in 2020. Buckingham Palace confirmed

Harry and Meghan stepped back as working members of the Royal Family in 2020. Buckingham Palace confirmed at the time that they would no longer formally represent Queen Elizabeth II and would not use their HRH styles. They retained their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles.

The issue of royal titles has nevertheless become increasingly prominent. In 2025, King Charles initiated a formal process concerning Prince Andrew’s style, titles, and honours, demonstrating that significant changes to royal status can occur under established constitutional and legal procedures. The House of Commons Library has since examined the process in detail.

That development has encouraged speculation about whether similar action could eventually affect other members of the family. But there is currently no confirmed announcement that Harry or Meghan are being stripped of their Duke and Duchess titles.

The distinction between royal titles, HRH styles, honours, and working-royal status is important. These are separate matters and can involve different procedures. The Royal Family’s official website continues to list Harry and Meghan as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Meanwhile, reports suggest Harry has been attempting to rebuild his relationship with his father, King Charles. A private meeting involving Charles, Harry, Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet in July 2026 has been described as a significant step toward renewed family contact.
